Weather Policy
Can dive practice be rained out?
Dive practice will be held as long as the pool is open.
Practice may continue in the rain as long as:
- It is not raining too hard
- It is not too cold
- There is no thunder or lightning
What happens if there is thunder or lightning?
If Palisades closes due to thunder or lightning, the pool will remain closed for 30 minutes after the last thunder or lightning.
If thunder or lightning occurs during dive practice and the storm appears to be moving through quickly, divers will move into the breezeway for dryland activities, which may include:
- Stretching
- Tumbling
- Dive modeling
When will dive practice be canceled due to bad weather?
Dive practice will be canceled only as a last resort.
If the forecast calls for solid storms during morning or afternoon practice, Palisades may cancel practice. If practice is canceled, an email will be sent to all registered families.
What happens if there is bad weather on meet day?
If there is bad weather on meet day, Palisades will work with the other pool to decide whether to:
- Hold the meet at the scheduled time
- Adjust the meet time
- Reschedule the meet entirely
If the meet needs to be rescheduled, we will do our best to make sure as many divers as possible are available to compete.
